Chřibská

Chřibská ( German Kreibitz ) is a small town in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic.

Geography

Chřibská is located south of the Sluknov along the Kreibitzbaches ( Chřibská Kamenice ) in a valley of the Lusatian Mountains. North of the city rises the legendary mountain Spravedlnost, which was the place of execution of Kreibitz to 1579. Southeast of the hamlet of Horni Chřibská is the dam Chřibská.

History

Chřibská was already mentioned in 1352 as a parish village. Originally it was an old Slavic settlement in the valley, led by a trade route from Bohemia to Lusatia. The village belonged to the castle Tolstejn ( Great Stone ), and came in 1428 to the Lords of Wartenberg on Tetschen. In 1614 it fell to the noble family Kinsky at Kamenice. 1570 Kreibitz received city rights.

One of Europe's oldest glassworks produced in Horni Chřibská ( Oberkreibitz ) since the beginning of modern times, finally to 2009, has ceased operations. The cottage has been demonstrated for the year 1514 and belonged to the glassmakers Veit Friedrich, who was also Scholze of Kreibitz. Recent research shows that the cottage was already at least ten years previously operated by Vitus father or brother Asmon Frederick, in 1504 by Siegmund von Wartenberg ( landlord 1464-1511 ) was provided with Glashütte privileges. Their descendants founded many other glassworks, among other things, in Silesia, in the Eagle Mountains and in Glatz. Beginning of the 18th century, the Kreibitzer glassworks was taken over by their landlords, which they leased in 1724 to the glass -making family coat and sold in 1767. Later in Kreibitz the manufacture of glass harmonicas was established.

Kreibitz formed from the mid-19th century, a municipality in the district court warning village. From 1938 to 1945 Kreibitz belonged to the district of warning village.

Since 10 October 2006 Chřibská is a city again. She is a member of the microregion Tolstejn.
