Chris Bryant

Christopher John Bryant ( born January 11, 1962 in Cardiff ) is a British politician and member of the Labour Party in the British Parliament Member of Parliament for the constituency of Rhondda in Wales.

Training

Chris Bryant was born in Cardiff. He attended Cheltenham College and Mansfield College, Oxford, where he received a Bachelor in 1983 in English and the master. Bryant learned thereafter for the post of an Anglican priest in the Church of England at Ripon College, Cuddesdon in Oxfordshire. There he achieved a degree in theology. Although he was already a member of the Conservative Party, joined Bryant 1986 Labour Party and left Oxford. From 1986, he served as a curate at the Church of All Saints, High Wycombe, and from 1989 as Youth Chaplain in Peterborough.

Labour Party

1991 Bryant changed his professional environment and worked as an employee of the Labour Party in Holborn and St Pancras constituency, where in 1992 he supported the Labour politician Frank Dobson in the elections. From 1993 he was a Local Government Officer for the Labour Party and lived in Hackney. Bryant was elected to the Hackney Borough Council in 1993, where he served until 1998. In 1993, Bryant Chairman of the Christian Socialist Movement. Bryant is also a member of the Labour Friends of Israel lobby group.

He was the author in 1996 and wrote biographies of Stafford Cripps and Glenda Jackson. Bryant was a candidate for the Labour Party in the 1997 elections in Wycombe and from 1998 Head of European Affairs for the BBC.

Member of Parliament

Bryant was elected as an MP in the British Parliament for the constituency of Rhondda. Bryant is a Christian Socialist, a member of the Fabian Society, Amnesty International and the organization Amicus. Bryant is a strong supporter of British membership of the European Union, an opponent of the legalization of drugs, an opponent of fox hunting and a proponent of a democratically elected House of Lords.

From 2005 to June 2006 was Bryant Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Constitutional Affairs Charlie Falconer.

Bryant supported the protests of the workers from the company Burberry, who protested against the closure of a factory in Treorchy, Wales, and the relocation of 310 jobs to China.
