Christian Maicon Hening ( born August 25, 1978 in Blumenau ), known under the name of Chris, is a former Brazilian footballer with German ancestors, who also has an Italian passport. A versatile defender, he was mostly used as a defensive midfielder or defensive.

Career

Club career

Chris grew up in the southern Brazilian city of Blumenau. About clubs from Curitiba and Porto Alegre he was in the winter of 2003 from FC St. Pauli, who played in the 2nd Bundesliga, obliged. In his first game he scored a goal in the 2-0 victory against VfB Lübeck.

Eintracht Frankfurt

After 13 games and three goals in the second division St. Pauli, he was obliged to season 2003/ 04 by the then Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt. This season, the Eintracht got off to the 2nd Bundesliga. Then Chris caused a scandal in the Brazilian fifth-tier Prudentópolis Esporte Clube when he signed despite valid contract in Frankfurt and was subsequently banned by FIFA for three months. After calls of the international sporting Court CAS the lock on the case was lifted that to Prudentópolis 250,000 euros to be paid. After discussion and reconciliation with the concord the club's management took over the penalty to unlock the phone, and put it back in the squad who rose later in the 1st Bundesliga.

Although Chris' contract expired with Eintracht Frankfurt until 2009, announced the former coach and manager of VfL Wolfsburg Felix Magath after the match against Eintracht, he wanted to bring him to the summer break in 2008 to Wolfsburg. Background was an exit clause that allowed Chris to leave the harmony before the expiry of the contractual period for a fixed transfer fee. But a change came not because the Eintracht an improved offer for extension submitted that Chris finally accepted.

As the longest-serving outfield player Eintracht Chris had accompanied the development of after relegation in 2004 completely newly assembled team from the outset and a corresponding thereto priority for team, fans and board of directors. In the summer 2011, Chris was hired shortly before the end of the transfer period from the first division club VfL Wolfsburg returned to the coach and manager Felix Magath. His one-year contract was not renewed after last season; Chris played just eight times for Wolfsburg.

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim

For the 2012/13 season Chris received a one-year contract with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. After his contract expires Chris left the club again.

FC Tombense

In the summer of 2013 he signed a contract in his home at FC Tombense. After a short time he announced end of his career.

Injuries

Chris has been plagued in his career again and again by injuries. After he had undergone disc surgery in May 2006, he fell out until December 2006. A ligament damage was Chris also miss the first third of the season 2007/2008. As soon as he had accrued back in winter, he retired to a complicated soles injury and fell for the last third of the season. Also in the 2008/2009 season Chris was able to complete only 19 season games due to injuries. 2009/2010 was the first season in years that he played no major injuries. Due to a groin injury he incurred at the opening training, he could not exercise the season opener 2010/2011 his new role as team captain. After the first seven games of the season, Chris had to pause again in 2010 due to an inflammation of the nerves in the back end of October. After a brief return to full training in early February 2011 it emerged that Chris had to be operated on the disc again. The season was finished.
