Christian Rach

Christian Rach ( born June 6, 1957 in St. Ingbert, Saarland ) is a German chef, TV chef and cookbook author. He was known nationally by the RTL show Rach, the restaurant critic.

Life

Rach grew up in St. Ingbert, his father was an electrical engineer, his mother a housewife. After high school he studied from 1978 to 1983 philosophy and mathematics at the University of Hamburg. He left the university shortly before the exam without a degree. During his studies, first Christian Rach worked as a waiter, but soon discovered his passion for cooking and funded the study from now on as a cook, so 1982 and 1983 Strandhof Uwe Witzke. After giving up his studies he worked from 1983 initially with Philippe Boissou in Grenoble and then in 1984 as Sous Chef in the parade in Vienna, where he was given an insight into the creative and classic cuisine.

Back in Hamburg, he opened in 1986 in Altona, the inner-city restaurant Leopold and 1989 together with Robert Wullkopf in a former truck driver pub the panel house near the harbor in Hamburg Altona. The board house in the district of Hamburg Ottensen received every year since 1991 a Michelin star as well as other awards. Since 2001, the Cantina Milano, which is connected to the house panel was chaired by Christian Rach. He operated from 1997 to November 2007, the hamburger restaurant angel with the snack Lucifer and brought both to their current level of awareness. In 2001 he opened the Darling Harbour, which was forced to close in 2004 because by Rach own assessment including the modern concept was not accepted.

In 2009 he took over with a partner, the gourmet restaurant The little red in Hamburg- Bahr field and changed the concept into a " luxury steakhouse " named Rach & Ritchy.

In October 2010, he announced that he would close the panel house on expiry of the lease. The restaurant is closed since 30 September 2011.

Christian Rach is honorary ambassador for the children's hospice central Germany and is committed to terminally ill children and their families.

TV

2005 Christian Rach was represented in the RTL show Hell's Kitchen, where he led a kitchen crew of celebrities.

In the same year launched the television show Rach, the restaurant critic in which he gave assistance in the kitchen and management until 2013 restaurants. In 2010 he had a cameo in his role as restaurant critic in the TV movie CIS - Anarchists in the Special Forces. From August 30 to October 18, 2010 RTL sent the first season of Rachs restaurant school. Between April 16 and May 21, 2012 RTL broadcast the second season of this series. In June 2013 at the RTL launched a new documentary series reveals Rach.

Christian Rach joined in early 2014 for ZDF. There is to be seen, since February 2014, the mission served on Rach.
