ÄŒierne

Čierne (Hungarian Cserne, Polish Czarne goralisch Czorne ) is a municipality in the north-western Slovakia.

Geography

Location

The municipality lies at an altitude of 454 meters and covers an area of ​​20,841 km ².

It is located south of the border triangle Slovakia - Czech Republic - Poland on Bach Čierňanka. Borders the following municipalities: Hrčava (Czech Republic), Istebna (Poland), Skalité, the city Čadca and Svrčinovec.

Population

The population is 4,335, mainly Catholic faith. In the village of the ethnic group of the highlanders lives.

History

The village was first mentioned in 1641 and 1645 already inhabited by 28 families. The inhabitants were mainly engaged in agriculture and forestry.

1884 got the place a rail connection.

In October 1938, the village was occupied by the Polish army and annexed the Republic of Poland. In September 1939 it was recaptured by German and Slovak troops.

Economy and Transport

The Čierne pri Čadci railway station is on the railway line Čadca - Zwardoń. More breakpoints along this route are Čierne pri Čadci zastávka and Čierne - Polesie.

Through the village the road I/12 (as Europastraße 75) of Svrčinovec runs to the border crossing to Poland in Skalite.
