Cinq-Mars-la-Pile
Cinq -Mars- la -Pile is a municipality with 3394 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in France. It is located in the Centre region in the département of Indre -et -Loire, in the canton of the arrondissement Langeais, Chinon.
General
Cinq -Mars- la -Pile is located 15 km west of Tours. The municipality is 20.11 square kilometers and is located at 37-101 m above sea level on the Loire. 2006 3,156 people lived here. In the place of the section was completed in 2006 Bourgueil -Tours of the Autoroute A85 crosses the river. The municipal area, the air forces of France maintain a radar station.

The French courtier Henri Coiffier de Ruzé, Marquis de Cinq- Mars, instigated a conspiracy against Richelieu and executed wurde1642 in Lyon. The events processed Alfred de Vigny to the historical novel " Cinq- Mars ou une conjuration sous Louis XIII. " (1826, published in German in 1948 ). Henri Robert also processed this material. By Charles François Gounod comes the opera " Cinq- Mars" (1877 ).
