Circle MRT Line

The ring line (English Circle Line, Ch环线) is the fourth MRT line in Singapore. It will have 31 stations and on completion be 35.7 km long. The first section went into operation on 28 May 2009, the second and third followed on April 17, 2010, another on 8 October 2011 and the provisional completion on 14 January 2012. As of 2011 was not planned, the ring on foreseeable future to accomplish. Various subsidence of the soil above the tunnel led to delays.

The line annularly surrounds the center. As the North -East line is also completely out the ring line underground and operated automatically and without drivers. To transfer to the North-South line are made in Bishan, Dhoby Ghaut and Marina Bay, to the east- west line in Paya Lebar and Buona Vista and for the North -East Line Dhoby Ghaut in, Serangoon and HarbourFront.

The Circle Line was opened on January 14, 2012 with the opening of the branch line to Marina Bay along its entire length; it is planned to take the station CC18 at a later time in operation. The travel times listed below are approximate:

The Circle Line was opened in sections:

  • May 28 2009: Stage 3 ( Bartley ( CC12 ) - Marymount ( CC16 ) )
  • April 17, 2010: Stage 1 & 2 ( Dhoby Ghaut (CC1 ) - Bartley ( CC12 ) )
  • October 8, 2011: Marymount - Harbourfront
  • January 14, 2012: Promenade - Marina Bay ( as a branch line)

  • The average distance between stations is 1.15 km to the opening of the station CC18.
  • The cruising speed is about 33.5 km / h
  • The branch line from Marina Bay runs up to stage and at peak times to Harbourfront extended.
