Cladonia

Cladonia sp.

The genus includes about 350 species of Cladonia lichens worldwide. In Central Europe, over 70 species are native. Members of this genus are very variable in their growth form. Most species are composed of a flat flake or flakes turf and erect stems ( Podetien ). The Podetien are varied; they can be tapered or trumpet- shaped, simple or branched. These stems are brown or red fruiting bodies ( apothecia ) are formed.
