Clarence Edward " Steamer " Horning (* November 15, 1892 in Phoenix, New York, † 24 January 1982) was an US- American football player. He has played in the National Football League with the Toledo Maroons.

Playing career

Clarence Horning graduated from Colgate University, where he also played American football. Because of his athletic achievements, he was elected as captain of his team in 1916 to All-American. In 1920 he became a professional football player and played for the Detroit Heralds. After the season, the Heralds had to suspend the operation of gambling and Horning enlisted in the Detroit Tigers, the operation had also adjust their game during the season. Horning played the season with the Buffalo All-Americans to an end. The next two years he ran the game on for the Toledo Maroons and was player of the later member of the College Football Hall of Fame Herb Stein and his brother Russ stone. The Maroons were able to create their first season in the NFL positive. Your five wins were against two losses and two draws, including a 0-0 draw against eventual NFL champion Canton Bulldogs.
