Clarissa Chun

Clarissa Chun ( born August 27, 1981 in Honolulu, Hawaii) is an American wrestler. It was 2008 in Tokyo world champion in the weight class up to 48 kg body weight.

Career

Clarissa Chun was born as the daughter of a Chinese father and a Japanese mother in Honolulu. In Kapolei to Honolulu resident, she started seven years at YBA Judo Club Hawaii with the ring sport. She also was active at that time even with swimming and also played water polo. She attended at the time the Roosevelt High School in Honolulu and so came to wrestle. At first she started there because there is a female opponent in Boyteam. In 1998, she was Hawaiian champion in the weight category to 44 kg body weight (bw ).

In order to progress in their sport further in 1999, she moved to Marshall in Missouri over and attended the Missouri Valley College. In 2002, she moved to Colorado Springs and has been training at this time Keith Wilson and Drew Lawrence. It belongs to the Ringer Sunkist Kids Club.

In 2000, she first attended the U.S. Championships and came in the weight class up to 46 kg body weight to 2nd place behind Patricia Miranda. This year, then began her international career with an 8th place at the Junior World Cup in Nantes and a 2nd place behind Maria del Los Angeses Barraza from Mexico at the Pan American Championships in Cali. Both times again in the class to 46 kg. It was also the same used in this Jahra at the World Championships for seniors in Sofia but had to pay dearly, because she came there without a win only to 13th place.

2001 Clarissa Chun was the first time U.S. champion and students reached with the U.S. Championship Seniorinen the 3rd place. At the Junior World Championship 2001 in Martigny / Switzerland, it improved in the class to 46 kg on the 5th Place. Junior World Champion in her weight class was the German Brigitte Wagner.

In 2002 Clarissa Chun arrived at the U.S. Championships only to 4th place, but was still used at the Pan American Games in Maracaibo. In the weight category up to 48 kg, it reached it behind Mayelis Caripa Castillo from Venezuela and Peru Ileni Barrero from the 3rd place.

In 2003 and 2004 she won at the U.S. championship in the class up to 48 kg each behind Patricia Miranda 2nd place. At this wrestler they also failed in the U.S. qualification for the Olympic Games in Athens, where competitions were held in the women's rings for the first time.

In the years 2005 to 2007 Clarissa Chun came with no international championships for use, even though it was first time in 2006 became U.S. champion in the class to 48 kg. In 2008 she came to the U.S. championship only to 4th place, but then managed at the Olympia excretion ( Trials ) the surprise and won there before Patricia Miranda. Thus, they represented the United States at the Olympic Games in Beijing in the class to 48 kg. In Beijing she won over Sofia Mattsson of Sweden and Vanessa Boubryemm from France but was defeated multiple World Champions Chiharu Icho of Japan ( 2:4 techn. Dots) and Irina Melnik - Merleni from Ukraine ( 1:6 techn. Dots) and got away with it on the 5th Place.

They then went in the two months after the Olympic Games in Beijing discharged World Championships in Tokyo at the start. There, she succeeded in the weight class up to 48 kg BW of the biggest success of her career, because she was with wins over Demet Kaya, Turkey, Tsai Pai- Jing, Taiwan, Makiko Sakamoto, Japan and Jyldie Echimasa - Turtbajew from Kazakhstan World Champion.
