Clas Theodor Odhner

Clas Theodor Odhner Jonas, Klas also Teodor Odhner, ( born June 17, 1836 in the rural community Alingsås, † June 11, 1904 in Stockholm) was a Swedish historian.

Odhner studied at Uppsala University, where he received his doctorate in 1860 for filosofie magister and appointed faculty of historical science. 1865 appointed adjunct at Lund University, in 1871 he could take over the Chair of History. From 1887 to 1901 he worked as an archivist kingdom and had to conduct inter alia, the relocation of the National Archives in a new building.

Odhner worked on several committees for the reform of the educational system, in particular the revision of textbooks, with and moreover authored textbooks on Swedish history, which had wide circulation.

From 1893 to 1897 Odhner MP for Stockholm was in the second chamber of the Riksdag, and sat there for a free trade.

Odhner was born in 1872 in the Kungliga och Vitterhets History Antikvitets academies, appointed in 1879 in the Kungliga Vetenskaps -och Vitterhetssamhället i Göteborg and 1882 in the Royal Society of Sciences in Uppsala. In 1885 he was admitted on chair 5 in the Swedish Academy, 1888 in the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. Lund University honored him in 1900 with an honorary doctorate.

Odhner was with Emma Knös, a daughter of the theologian Anders Erik Knös married. One of her sons was the zoologist Theodor Odhner.
