Claudio Maria Celli

Claudio Maria Celli ( born July 20, 1941 in Rimini, Italy) is Curia, Archbishop and President of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications.

Life

Celli received on 19 March 1965, the sacrament of Holy Orders. He received his Ph.D. in the subjects of Catholic theology and canon law. 1970 Claudio Maria Celli joined the diplomatic service of the Vatican and worked as a secretary at the Apostolic Nunciature in Honduras, Argentina and the Philippines. Then Celli taught at the Pontifical Lateran University Church law.

1990 Claudio Maria Celli Under Secretary of the Section for Relations with States in the Vatican Secretariat of State. Pope John Paul II appointed him on 16 December 1995, Secretary of the administration of goods of the Apostolic See and Titular Archbishop of Cluentum. He received his episcopal consecration John Paul II on January 6, 1996; Co-consecrators were the archbishops Jorge María Mejía Curia and Giovanni Battista Re.

On 27 June 2007 Pope Benedict XVI appointed. Celli President of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications. May 26, 2009 Celli was also appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Centro televisivo Vaticano.
