Clayton Stanley

Clayton Iona Stanley ( born January 20, 1978 in Honolulu) is an American volleyball player.

Career

Clayton Stanley is the son of Jon Stanley, who at the Olympic volleyball tournament took part in 1968. At the Kaiser High School in Honolulu, he could not play because the school had no male volleyball team. Therefore, he began his career at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. In 2000, he decided to pursue the sport professionally and was appointed to the national team. A year later, the Greek first division club Panathinaikos Athens undertook the diagonal attacker. In 2003, he won with the U.S. team to the World Cup. 2004 Double he succeeded with Panathinaikos in Greece. He then took part in the Olympic Games, where the U.S. finished fourth. Stanley moved within the Greek League to Iraklis Thessaloniki. In the first season he was with the new club greek champion and reached before native audience the Champions League final against Tours VB. With the national team he won the 2005 NORCECA Championship. In 2006 he was again in the Champions League final before he left Greece and moved to Russian club Zenit -Kazan VK. In the first season with the U.S. attacker Kazan achieved the domestic double. The U.S. team defended with Stanley the continental title. 2008 Kazan won the final of the Champions League against Copra Piacenza. Stanley experienced after the triumph in the World League his second Olympic tournament, winning by a final victory of his team against Brazil, the gold medal. For Kazan 2009 there were again the Double in 2010 and another league title. Then Stanley moved to league rivals Ural Ufa In his third Olympic Games in London in 2012 he finished fifth.
