Clemens Mayer

Clemens Mayer ( born September 25, 1985 in Brannenburg ) is a successful German memory athlete, who was the first German in 2005 and 2006 World Memory Champion ( More Combat). He also operates medium and long- distance running and also went for several years at a sports school in Cottbus. In 2005 he began his studies of law at the University of Munich.

World Records

  • Memorization of 198 read aloud every second digits
  • Memorizing a 1040- digit number in 30 minutes
  • Remembrance of the 90 people named to the respective faces in 15 minutes

Strategy

Mayer relies heavily on a healthy diet and adequate sleep in order to improve his mental performance during competitions. His memory, he trains every day for about 15 minutes and about half an hour before championships.

Memory system

Mayer has the numbers from 00 to 99 one image (see Major system). The assignment of the images was there purely arbitrary. For a long series of numbers he is using the picture stories that are of different lengths. The length varies depending on the possibility of chaining of frames between two and eight members. These stories he shall subsequently onto mental Wegplätzen. This technique is referred to as memory method of loci.
