Clóvis Beviláqua

Clóvis Bevilaqua ( born October 4, 1859 in Viçosa do Ceará, † July 26, 1944 in Rio de Janeiro) was a Brazilian jurist, philosopher and historian.

Bevilaqua was a founding member of the Academia Brasileira de Letras and member of the Instituto Histórico e Geográfico.

In 1883 he declared himself in his book A filosofia positive ista no Brasil as monist evolutionist and others founded the philosophical Escola do Recife.

In 1901 he designed the Brazilian Zvilgesetzbuch that was valid from 1916 to 2002 /3 System.
