Codex Angelicus

The Codex Angelicus ( Gregory -Aland no lap or 020; von Soden α 5 ) is a Greek manuscript of the New Testament, which is dated to the 9th century. The manuscript is not complete.

Description

The manuscript consists of Acts and Paul's letters on 189 parchment leaves ( 27 x 21.5 cm ), but the Codex missing some big parts of Acts ( 1.1 to 8.10 ) and of Hebrews 13.10 to 25.

The manuscript contains Prolegomena, lectionary markings, signatures, and στιχοι.

The Greek text of Codex represents the Byzantine text and the category V is assigned.

History of the Codex

The manuscript belonged to Cardinal Passionei and is preserved in the Biblioteca Angelica, hence the name of the Code.

The manuscript was examined by Montfaucon, Bianchini, Birch ( Epistle of James, and 1 Corinthians ), and Scholz (all Code), and Ferdinand spot. The text has been collated by Tregelles and Tischendorf.

The Codex is kept in the Biblioteca Angelica (no. 39) in Rome.
