Codex Monacensis

The Codex Monacensis ( Gregory -Aland no X or 033; von Soden A3 ) is a Greek manuscript of the New Testament, which is dated to the 10th century. The handwriting is not completely preserved.

Description

It consists of the four Gospels on 160 parchment leaves with many gaps. Format in 37.5 × 25.5 cm, text in 2 columns and 45 rows. The manuscript contains patristic comments. The Gospels are arranged in order of Western manuscripts ( Matthew, John, Luke, Mark ). The parchment is thick, the ink is brown.

The Greek text of Codex represents the Byzantine text-type and the category V is assigned. There is a lack Mat 16.2 b-3 and John 7:53-8:11.

  • Gospel according to Mark 6.46 - end; Chapter 14-16 are missing.

History of the Code

The manuscript was in 1757 in Innsbruck, was in Ingolstadt in 1827, and came to Munich.

The manuscript was examined by Griesbach, Scholz, Tischendorf, and Tregelles.

The Codex is kept in the library of the Ludwig- Maximilians- University Munich ( v. 9) in Munich.
