Codex Vaticanus 354

The Codex Vaticanus 354 ( Gregory -Aland no S or 028, ε von Soden 1027) is a Greek manuscript of the New Testament, which is dated to 949. She is one of the oldest, who has called the date. The Codex is in the Vatican Library under the signature Gr. 354 held in Rome. The manuscript is complete.

Description

The manuscript contains the four Gospels on 235 parchment leaves (36 x 24 cm). the text is in two columns of 27 lines, with 15-17 letters in line. The letters tend to right. Spiritus asper, Spiritus lenis and accents are missing.

Luke 22,43.44 and John 7:53-8:11 are spaced by signs.

It contains Epistula ad Carpianum, κεφαλαια, τιτλοι, the Eusebischen canon, signatures, stichoi and neumes.

The Greek text of Codex represents the Byzantine text-type and the category V is assigned.

The manuscript was examined by Bianchini, Andrew Birch, Tischendorf, and Mercati.
