Cofina

Cofina is a Portuguese holding company in the media. The company is based in Porto.

Company History

The company was founded in 1995, and is listed since 1998 on the Portuguese stock exchange, the Bolsa de Valores. An original focus of the company was in the pulp and paper manufacturing, in addition to activities in other areas, including media. After the acquisition of various print media titles, about 2001, the daily newspaper Correio da Manhã and 2002, the television program guide TV Guia were 2005, all divisions away from the media division spun off. Cofina has since been regarded as a leader in the field of print media in Portugal, with a sold -year total circulation of 75 million tracks.

The company suffered sales declines in 2012, but were lower than expected in the difficult economic environment in the country. So is the profit, fell by 4.4 million in the first half of 2011 to € 646,000 in the same period of 2012. The company has been operational since September 24, 2012 in the Portuguese Stock Index PSI 20, with a weighting of 0.16%. It was in previous years, at times part of the PSI 20

Structure

To Cofina Group also includes the Cofihold, a holding company, which includes investments in Altri and other industrial, infrastructure and other corporations.

Below the Holding Cofina, SGPS the various media companies of the group are located, including a 30 % stake in Destak Brasil, the Brazilian subsidiary of one's own free newspaper Destak, who is now in the cities of São Paulo ( 200,000 circulation ), Rio de Janeiro ( 120.000 edition), Brasília and Campinas produced editions.
