Coleen Seng

Coleen Seng ( born February 8, 1936 in Council Bluffs, Iowa) is an American politician (Democratic Party). It was between 2003 and 2007, the 50th Mayor of the city of Lincoln in Nebraska.

Her husband Darrel died 1993., With whom she had three children.

Life

Seng grew up in Fremont (Nebraska ). In 1954 she graduated from the High School and graduated from then on the Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. In 1958 she finished her studies with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology.

Political career

Seng sat in the mayoral election 2003 against the Republican City Council member Glenn Friendt. Previously, she was 16 years member of the city council. It replaced Don Wesely. In 2006, Coleen Seng gave up a possible re-election. Her successor joined with State Sen. Chris Beutler again a Democrat.

She became known in 2004, when she demanded an allowance due to increased security in the amount of $ 32,000 by Vice President Dick Cheney. This had carried out a fundraiser for the Republican candidate of his time and later Congressman Jeff Fortenberry.
