Coleman Carroll

Coleman Francis Carroll ( born February 9, 1905 in Pittsburgh, USA, † July 26, 1977 in Miami) was Archbishop of Miami.

Life

Coleman Francis Carroll studied Catholic theology at St. Vincent Seminary in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. He received on 15 June 1930, the sacrament of Holy Orders. 1944 Carroll received his doctorate from the Catholic University of America in Canon Law.

On August 25, 1953, he was named by Pope Pius XII. Titular Bishop of Pitanae and appointed him as Auxiliary Bishop of Pittsburgh. The Apostolic Delegate in the United States, Archbishop Giovanni Cicognani Amleto, donated to him on 10 November of the same year in the Saint Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Pittsburgh, John Francis Dearden, and the Bishop of Columbus, Michael Joseph Ready.

On August 13, 1958, he was named Pius XII. Bishop of Miami. The inauguration took place on 7 October of the same year. On March 2, 1968 Coleman Francis Carroll was Archbishop of Miami.
