The Columbia Mountains are a group of mountain ranges in southeastern British Columbia, and partially in Montana, Idaho, Washington. They extend over an area of ​​135,952 km ². Three-quarters of the mountain is located in Canada and the remaining quarter in the United States. The mountain range is limited by the grave breach Rocky Mountain Trench in the east, and the Kootenay River in the south, the western boundary is the edge of the Interior Plateau. The Mount Sir Sandford is the highest in the mountains, it reaches 3519 meters.

The Columbia Mountains are divided into the mountain ranges of the Cariboo, Monashee, Selkirk and Purcell Mountains. In the Columbia Mountains originate the headwaters of the Columbia River.
