Commission scolaire de la Pointe-de-l'ÃŽle

The Commission scolaire de la Pointe -de- l'Île ( CSPI ) is a public school board in the Canadian province of Québec. She is responsible for the organization of French-speaking school education in the north of the administrative region of Montreal.

Organization

On 1 July 1998, the course of secular education reform in Quebec establishing the CSPI. With this reform, the previously separate denominational school boards were dissolved and replaced by new ones, which are defined by linguistic and geographical criteria. The CSPI replaced the Catholic Commission scolaire Jérôme -Le Royer and parts of the Commission des écoles Catholiques de Montréal and the Protestant School Board of Greater Montreal.

The CSPI operates 41 elementary schools, seven secondary schools, five special schools, ten vocational schools, an institution for adult education and a center for distance learning. 5,500 employees ( 55% of teachers) serve approximately 35,000 students. 23 school boards who are elected by the residents of assisted area, supervise the school board, with nine councilors hold executive functions.

  • Four districts of the city of Montreal: Anjou, Montréal- Nord, Rivière -des- Prairies - Pointe- aux- Trembles, Saint- Léonard
  • The independent community Montréal- Est
