Compert Con Culainn

Compert Con Chulainn [' comb ʴ ERT xon ' Kulin ʴ ] (" Cú Chulainn Conception" ) is the title of a Remscéla ( Vorerzählung ) of the Táin Bó Cuailnge ( " The Cattle Raid of Cooley " ) from the Ulster Cycle of Irish mythology. This legend has been handed down in two different versions in the Lebor na hUidre ( "The Book of the Dun Cow " ) from the 12th century and in some more recent manuscripts. The oldest version suspected in Lebor Dromma Snechta ( "The Book of Druim Snechta " ) is lost along with this compilation.

Deichtire, the sister ( another version - the daughter ) of King Conchobar mac Nessa is pregnant according to mythical tradition of Lugh after three union and brings a child to the world, which is given the name Sétanta. Twice is an incarnation of the child the final birth have preceded, since according to druidic teaching only the third incarnation was the perfect one. Also an incestuous connection with Conchobar Deichtire is indicated in one version of the story. On the same night two horses are born, Cú Chulainn should consider car later - Liath Macha and Dub Sainglenn. After the human husband Deichtires, Súaltam mac Róich, the boy Sétanta mac Sualtáim is called.
