Concours Géza Anda

The Concours Géza Anda is one every three years since 1979 taking place in Zurich Piano Competition. In 1978, Hortense Anda- Buehrle, the widow of the late 1976 Hungarian pianist Géza Anda, in his memory, the Géza Anda Foundation, which performs the competition since its inception in 1979. Known laureates are Hisako Kawamura (2003 ), Michael Endres (1985 ), Kirschnereit (1991 ), Pietro De Maria ( 1994), Georges Pludermacher (1979 ), Konstantin Scherbakov (1991 ), Hüseyin Sermet (1985 ), Henri Sigfridsson (2000 ), Nikolai Tokarev (2006), Denes Várjon (1991) and Alexei Volodin ( 2003).

The last host in June 2012, which was first broadcast as a live stream on the Internet in collaboration with Zurich University of the Arts, was the Russian, living in Hamburg pianist Varvara Nepomnyashchaya ( with artist name " Varvara " ) to decide for themselves; she won at the same time also the Mozart and the audience award.

Main prizes

Mozart Prize of the Music College Winterthur

The jury gives a semi- finalist in consultation with the Winterthur Musikkollegium the Mozart Prize, consisting of a presentation of the prize winner, accompanied by the music college. The winner of the 2012 Concours Varvara will play 595 on 31 October 2013, the Piano Concerto No. 27 in B flat major, K., led by Thomas Zehetmair in the city Winterthur.

Géza Anda 's Audience

Visitors to the final concert will have the opportunity to give one of the finalists Géza Anda Audience Prize. The audience award relates, in contrast to the major prizes only at the final concert. It is donated by the private bank Ihag Zurich, which belongs to the founding families Buehrle and Anda, and includes a concert appearance.

Schumann Prize

The best interpretation of a work by Robert Schumann is rewarded with the Schumann Prize. It is sponsored by the concert agency Artists Management Company AG Zurich and consisted of a cash prize of 5,000 Swiss francs and a concert appearance. The prize was awarded in 2012 to the Russian pianist and third prize winners Elmar Gasanov.

Prizes

Mode ( as of 2012)

For the competition, a number of legal copies of the Viennese classical, romantic and modern need for piano solo and piano concertos to be prepared. The compulsory pieces lean heavily on the repertoire of Géza Anda. The whole competition is public and can be visited by interested parties. The first two rounds will be held in the premises of the Zurich University of the Arts. For the Mozart - examination and the final concert of the Tonhalle Zurich will be used.

Preselection

2012, all candidates were invited for the Vorselektionsrunde to Zurich for the first time. The participants had to carry forward for 25 minutes sentences and / or works, at its option and from the compulsory pieces chosen by the jury. Recital

Mozart exam

The semi-finalists take to the jury, accompanied by the music college Winterthur under the leadership of Theodor Guschlbauer per a piano concerto by Mozart before. The Musikkollegium Winterthur also founds the Mozart Special Prize.

Final Concert

During the final concert, the finalists will be accompanied by the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich.
