Conny Stuart

Conny Stuart ( born September 15, 1913 in Wijhe, Overijssel Province; † August 22, 2010 in Amsterdam) was a Dutch singer, actress, comedienne and musical actress.

Life

Conny Stuart was born under the civil name Cornelia van Meijgaard. She grew up near the Peace Palace in The Hague. She attended the Girls' High School ( school Hogere burger ) Bleyenburg in The Hague and took piano lessons. During this time, she used to be the family name Stuart and received at the same time their nickname puck.

Her career as a singer began in the band of jazz pianist, singer and bandleader Freddy Johnson. Her first radio appearance took place on 25 July 1939. In October 1940, she received an invitation, together with other prominent Dutch artists show at a concert on the Leidseplein in Amsterdam occur. There she met the Dutch cabaret artist and singer Wim Sonneveld know who committed them later for his cabaret ensemble. She appeared for the first time in 1943 in his cabaret avenues voor dames with.
