Conrad II, Duke of Transjurane Burgundy

Conrad II was the eldest son of Count Conrad I of Auxerre, the long years of his advisers -in-law, the Emperor Louis the Pious († 840) and King Louis the German had been 859 before he - together with his sons Conrad II and Hugo Abbas - his biological nephew Karl joined the Bald, and thereby lost all title and counties in the eastern kingdom.

Since Conrad I was compensated with the county Auxerre, Conrad II inherited this title when his father died probably 863. However, he soon seems to have fallen out of favor, as Charles the Bald deprived him of the county, and he went to the court of his nephew Lothair II. Lothar II and his brother Ludwig II transferred him the task of the insurgent Transjuranien to subdue the country between the Jura and the Alps, where neither Lothar II still reigned Ludwig II ( Lothar, the area had 859 assigned to Ludwig), but the Bosonide Hugbert, Tommy's brother.

Konrad II abolished the task by hitting 864 Hugbert at Orbe in the Vaud, and two years later, in 866, as Margrave himself took over the rule in Transjuranien.

Conrad's year of death is not known. It is only known that his son Rudolf I referred to already 872 as Margrave of Transjuranien.

Konrad and his wife Waldrada had (at least) two children:

  • Rudolf I, † October 25th 912, 872 Margrave of Transjuranien, 878 Count, 888 Proclamation in Saint -Maurice- d'Agaune King of Burgundy; ∞ Willa of Burgundy
  • Adelheid, 921-928/929 testified receives, 888 from her brother the monastery Romainmôtier lifetime ∞ the court, Mr Richard ( Richard le justicier ), † 921, Duke of Burgundy ( Buviniden )

In the documents occurs at the same time a Margrave Conrad II of Burgundy, whose daughter Adelgunde is 890/902 testifies and the progenitor of the Ezzonen, Erenfried I, 866/904 testifies, 877 Count in Bliesgau, 895 Count of Charmois married. The analogy to the Guelph Conrad II is obvious that identity not established.
