Consolas

Consolas is a monospaced font. It is part of a series of new fonts that have been introduced with Microsoft Windows Vista, and is also included in Microsoft Office for Windows 2007 version or the Mac OS X version 2008.

Here it solves Courier New from the standard non - proportional font. Among the six introduced with Windows Vista Clear Type fonts it is the only non-proportional font. It is designed primarily for the programming. Since their normal text characters are more similar than in the Courier New so far the most widely used, even longer texts are easier to read on screen.

Consolas was designed by Lucas de Groot for Microsoft and contains the character sets Latin, Latin (extended), Greek and Cyrillic.

Availability

Except in Microsoft Office it is in addition to the other new font Calibri, Cambria, Candara, Constantia, and Corbel, both in the PowerPoint Viewer 2007 and Open XML File Format Converter for Mac included, which Microsoft offers a free download. The writing remains after uninstalling the programs.

Consolas is the default font of the text editor BBEdit and will be supplied with it.
