Cornelia Bürki

Cornelia Bürki (born de Vos, born October 3, 1953 in Humansdorp, Eastern Cape, South Africa) is a former Swiss medium-and long -distance runner. She is 47 - time Swiss champion and reached the finals in several international championships.

Cornelia de Vos started her athletics career at Hoërskool Nico Malan High School in Humansdorp. In 1973, she moved to Switzerland and married there. At the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 it was for the Eleventh Switzerland about 1500 meters, at the Games in 1984 in Los Angeles fifth over 3000 meters at the 1988 Games in Seoul Tenth over 3000 meters.

At the World Athletics Championships 1987, she was fourth, respectively over 1500 and 3000 meters. At the European Championships in 1978, she was eighth over 1500 meters and sixth over 3000 meters and at the European Championships in 1986 over 1500 Eighth and Seventh over 3000 meters.

Four times she was at the World Championships in cross-country running in the top ten.

Even with road races it was successful. Five times they won the Basel City Run, two each at the Zurich New Year's run and the Swiss women's race and once at Murten run.

In 1978 she was elected to the Swiss Sportswoman of the Year. When a body height of 1.60 m her competition weight was 49 kg.

She now works as a trainer of athletics clubs Rapperswil -Jona, where she is responsible for a medium-and long -distance training group along with Beat Wyss. There she manages inter alia on the middle-distance runner Mario Bächtiger.
