Corrado Gini

Corrado Gini (* May 23, 1884 in Motta di Livenza near Treviso, † March 13, 1965 in Rome) was Italian statistician, demographer and sociologist. He developed, among other things named after him Gini coefficient, with which he portrayed the unequal distribution of income in an economy.

Gini was also a leading fascist theorist and ideologue, who as head of the Central Institute of Statistics in Rome wrote in 1927 The theory of fascism. In 1932, he resigned in protest against the interference of the fascist state back into his work from his office.
