Cosimo Caliandro

Cosimo Caliandro ( born March 11, 1982 in Francavilla Fontana, † June 10, 2011 ibid ) was an Italian middle and long distance runners.

2001 Caliandro was European Junior Champion over 1500 m. In 2004 he occupied at the World Cross Country Championships in Brussels on the short distance to 44th. In 2005 and 2006 he was in the hall national champion over 3,000 m, outdoor 2006 over 5000 m.

At the Track European Indoor Championships in Birmingham in 2007, he won over 3000 m. In 2010 he was fourth at Roma - Ostia.

In 2011, he was killed when he collided on his motorcycle head-on with a car. The athlete with the nickname " Mimmo " left behind a wife and two sons.

Cosimo Caliandro was 1.84 m tall and weighed 62 kg. He was trained by Stefano Cecchini and launched for Fiamme Gialle.
