Count of Girona
The county of Girona or Gerona County is one of the historical Catalan counties. Capital of the county was Girona.
The county was in 1351 into a duchy, when King Peter III. of Aragon passed on the title of Duke to his first-born son, John. 1414 King Ferdinand I awarded the title of Prince or Prince of Girona to his first-born son, Alfonso. The title is currently (now as Prince of Girona) run by Crown Prince Felipe of Spain.
