Cressat

Cressat is a commune with 565 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Creuse in the Limousin region. It belongs to the district of the canton of Gueret and AHUN. Maire of the place since March 2008, the deputy Jean Auclair ( b. 1946 ).

Geography

Cressat is located in the Massif Central, 44 kilometers southwest of Montlucon, some 18 kilometers north of Gueret, the seat of the prefecture of the department, and 7.7 kilometers northeast of Ahu, the capital of the canton, on an average height of 443 meters above the sea level. Since the town is located in the mountains, the height differences are large, the Mairie is located at an altitude of 520 meters. History

1793 Cressat received in the wake of the French Revolution ( 1789-1799 ) as Crenac the status of a municipality and 1801 by the administrative reform in the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821 ) under the name Cressac the right to local self-government.

Culture and sights

The stained glass windows of the church of Sainte -Marguerite were made ​​in the 19th century and restored in 2009.
