Crossing The Bridge – The Sound of Istanbul

Crossing The Bridge - The Sound of Istanbul is a German musical film from the year 2005 and the first feature-length documentary directed by Fatih Akın. The film was selected by the committee of the International Film Festival of Cannes for the film program shown out of competition.

Content

Protagonist of the documentary is the work of the Berlin musician Alexander Hacke, known as the bassist accompanied Einstürzende Neubauten, the Akın on a musical journey through the Turkish city of Istanbul. From street musicians to the Turkish megastar hoe captures the diverse multicultural -influenced sounds of Istanbul, one with an ever conducted with him mobile recording studio, he sometimes makes music spontaneously with the Turkish musicians.
