History

Turnu Severin was founded in 2007 by the merger of Craiova CFR Craiova and Gaz Metan Podari under the name Gaz Metan CFR Craiova. The club first started in the League III, where he finished the 2007/08 season second in the Season 4 behind Curtea de Arges iNTernational and thus the rise barely missed. A year later, he won his season, and was promoted to the Liga II. There, the club could match the 2009/10 season finish in seventh place. At the same time reached Gaz Metan by a success in Piatra Neamţ Erstligist Ceahlăul the knockout stages at the Romanian Cup, where Team eventual winner CFR Cluj defeated 0:1.
