Cumnock (New South Wales)

Cumnock is a place in the geographical center of the Australian state of New South Wales. It is located on the right across the country leading, however, now disused railway line from Molong to Dubbo. In the 2011 census Cumnock had a total population of 275 inhabitants. The place was named after the Scottish town in Ayrshire, the home of an early settler named Straborn.

As the first community Cumnock developed a " farm house - rental program," the farm houses for the symbolic rent of one dollar made ​​available to lure as new families to the area. This program has been adopted by some other rural communities.
