Curtin Springs

Curtin Springs is a 416 400 acre cattle farm with Roadhouse in Australia's Northern Territory. It is located 85 kilometers east of Yulara at the Lasseter Highway, the main access road to the Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park -.

History

In the 1930s, Paddy DeConnley began with the management of the country. After the nearby Mt Conner he named the farm Mount Conner station. Around 1940, Abraham Andrews leased the station along with additional surrounding Crown land, and the farm was known as Curtin Springs Station. In 1956 the farm was taken over by the family Severin, they farmed until today.

Water for the station and the cattle is obtained by groundwater, which is promoted by both the diesel- or solar-powered pumps as well as by wind turbines to the surface. Lately Murray Grey cattle are bred increased.

The Severin family offers of accommodation and other services for tourists. There are some rooms in addition to a free and a paid electrified campsite. Because of its location in a very dry area, an additional fee is charged for showers. As a tourist attraction, the station stops near the pub birds and emus. Local tour operators offer trips to Lake Amadeus and Mount Conner.
