Cynuria

The Cynuria (Greek Κυνουρία in Modern Greek, Kynouria ) is an ancient landscape on the east coast of the Peloponnese. It includes parts of Parnon and Thyreatis, a fertile plain on the Gulf of Argolis, the area around the ancient city Thyrea, which was 424 BC conquered and destroyed by the Athenians.

In the modern state of Greece the Kynouria to local government reform in 1997 was a province of Arcadia Prefecture, from 1997, there was the church Voria Kynouria (, North Kynouria ', capital Astros ), with the administrative reform in 2010 was from the southern part of the landscape, the community Notia Kynouria (, South Kynouria ', capital Leonidi ) formed.

Another landscape in western Arcadia Lykaion north of the mountains on both sides of Alfios also named Cynuria.
