The inedible Strong smelling granules Schirmling ( Cystoderma carcharias ) is a species of fungus in the family of mushroom relatives ( Agaricaceae ). The fruiting bodies appear from September to November mainly in coniferous forests.

Features

Macroscopic characteristics

The cap is 2-6 cm wide, tapered, young, soon vaulted to spread and hunched dull. The surface is finely granular to mealy and dirty white, gray pink, colored via isabell up almost milky coffee brown. The Hutmitte is usually darker. The edge is bent down for a long time and hung with white Hüllresten.

The little crowded stationary blades are attached to the stalk and run down with a tooth in it. They are whitish young and turn yellow with age. The spore powder is amyloid and white.

The cylindrical and initially full stem is 3-7 cm long and 0.3-0.8 cm wide. He is aged hollow and carries an ascending, funnel-like and durable ring. Above the ring of the stem is smooth, whitish, including just like the hat flocked grayish pink to gray and grainy. The flesh is whitish and smells very unpleasant, like gas or barn dust and tastes disgusting, but mild.

Microscopic characteristics

The broad - elliptical, almost rounded spores are 4-5 microns long and 3-4 microns wide, Zystiden missing.

Sometimes the rust red grain Schirmling ( Cystodermella granulosa ) can occur in whitish forms. His spore powder is but inamyloid and a membranous ring is also missing.

Ecology and distribution

The fruiting bodies of the strong -smelling granules blank screen usually appear sociable September to November in coniferous and deciduous mixed forests. Sometimes it can be found even earlier, and up into December. The fungus is quite common, especially in limestone areas.
