Dabaga is a rural municipality in the Department Tchirozérine in Niger.

Geography

Dabaga located in the northern Sahel. The municipality is divided into 46 administrative villages, seven traditional villages, two hamlets, seven warehouses and seven water points. The main town of the rural community is the oasis city Dabaga, consisting of the traditional village Dabaga I and the administrative village Dabaga II borders the following municipalities Dannet and Timia in the north, Tabelot in the east, the south and Aderbissinat Ingall and Tchirozérine in the West. In addition, the regional capital Agadez is completely surrounded by the municipality of Dabaga.

The " Forêt de classée Dabaga " is a 1050 acre protected nature woodland area in the municipality of Dabaga. The protected status was made in 1959.

History

The rural community Dabaga originated as an administrative unit in 2002 in a previously unincorporated area. In October 2007, an incident occurred involving doctors without borders. The project had to be canceled. 2009 tried flooding damage, of which around 10,000 residents were directly affected. When the floods in West and Central Africa 2010 1692 Resident of Dabaga were classified as disaster victims.

Population

At the 2001 census Dabaga had 18,286 inhabitants. For the year 2010 27.354 inhabitants were calculated. Mostly living in this region Tuareg, sporadically Hausa.

Economy and infrastructure

In Dabaga is an important particular for trade with Algeria livestock market.
