Daifang Commandery

The Daifang Commandery was an administrative unit of the Chinese Empire under the Wei and Jin Dynasty. It was located on the Korean Peninsula was conquered and 313 of Goguryeo.

History

Gongsun Kang, who had taken over as a warlord in the early 3rd century, the Chinese commanderies in Liaodong, told in the 204 Lelang Commandery and taught in the southern half of the Daifang Commandery one. From there he could watch his southern neighbors.

In the year 236 of the General Sima Yi, who served under the Wei Emperor Cao Rui, the Gongsun family conquered and annexed Liaodong, Lelang and Daifang. An attempt to subdue the southern tribes, failed because of their rebellion, which was eventually suffocated by the armies of Lelang and Daifang.

The Daifang Commandery was taken over by the Jin Dynasty. As in the 4th century civil war broke out, Jin could not hold the area. Zhang Tong (Chinese张 统) became self-employed in Lelang and Daifang. After the Xiongnu had taken in the year 311 the Jin capital Luoyang, he sought help from Murong Hui, the warlord of the Xianbei. Goguryeo annexed Lelang and Daifang shortly thereafter. The dominance of Chinese culture in this region faded in the following centuries.

Area

The Daifang - command post was in Hwanghaedo and Kyǒnggido. According to the Book of Jin, it consisted of seven prefectures (Chinese县):

The capital was in the Daifang Prefecture, has not yet been located. Historians suspect on the Han River, whereas archaeologists keep an excavation site in the Hwanghae Province for the capital.
