Dan Brouthers

Dennis Joseph " Dan " Brouthers ( born May 8 1858 in Sylvan Lake, New York; † August 2, 1932 in East Orange, New Jersey) was an American baseball player in Major League Baseball. His nickname was Big Dan.

Biography

Dan Brouthers played in the 19th century in professional baseball and in his day was one of the first superstars of the sport. He began his career with the Troy Trojans, for which he played both as a first baseman and also, but less successful as a pitcher. Five times Brouthers was the most successful player in batting average, home runs and twice in RBIs once at the. After Harry Stovey and Roger Connor, he was the third player in the Major Leagues, access to the more than 100 home runs in his career. Actually, he finished his career in 1896 with the Philadelphia Phillies, but returned in 1904 for two games back again to the New York Giants. In 1946, he was picked up by the Veterans Committee in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
