Career

Daniel Poulin began his career as a hockey player with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens, for which he was active from 1973 to 1977 in the Canadian top junior league Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He was then in the eleventh round when a total of 167 players selected in the NHL Amateur Draft in 1977 by the Montreal Canadiens, for whom he never played, however. Instead, the defender spent the season 1977/78 at the Kalamazoo Wings and Muskegon Mohawks of the International Hockey League.

In the summer of 1978, Poulin moved to the Erie Blades of the Eastern Hockey League, the championship he won with his team in 1979 and 1980 twice in a row. After one season with the Oklahoma City Stars in the Central Hockey League, signed the Canadians in 1981 at their league rivals Nashville South Stars, for their cooperation partners, which he gave Minnesota North Stars in the 1981/82 season his debut in the National Hockey League, where he scored one goal in three games and gave a presentation. Then, the right-handed shooter went to Europe, where he received a contract with EHC Biel from Swiss National League A, with whom he won the national championship in the 1982/83 season. For Biel, the former NHL player was a total of seven years on the ice before he, his career ended in the 1989/90 season, which he spent at the League rival HC Davos in the port.
