Dance with Me is an American dance film from 1998 starring Vanessa Williams and Chayanne in the lead roles.

Action

Rafael lives in Cuba and just had to take his mother to the grave. Through them he had learned that his father lives in Texas and John Burnett called. He manages a visa for the United States to maintain and get a job at Burnett in his dance studio. Burnett did not know of the existence of a son and Rafael conceals him this for the time being. Rafael learns in the dance studio, the professional dancer Ruby Sinclair and falls into it. The single mother was abandoned by her former boyfriend and dance partner when she was pregnant. Rafael gets the chance to become their new dance partners and train them to be able to appear together at a big dance competition. She decides but then again for her former dance partner, so that her son can be with his father closer. Although the chemistry between the two is not true right, they win the dance competition. Soon, however, she realizes herself that she has chosen the wrong man.

Reviews

The lexicon of international film wrote that the film was " uninspired ", " cliched " and " scenically conservative ". His stylistics was compared with that of a " television soap opera".

Prism Online described the story as " pretty stale and predictable", but " the Latino music and some successful dance scenes nonetheless provide a good mood ." Overall, the film is rated as "acceptable".

Awards

Joan Plowright was nominated in 1999 for a Golden Satellite Award. Daryl B. Kell was nominated for the sound editor for the Golden Reel Award in 1999. Chayanne, William Marquez and the existing of Vanessa Williams and Chayanne, the song You Are My Home Singing, couple were nominated for the ALMA Award 1999.
