Daniel Anthony Cronin

Daniel Anthony Cronin ( born November 14, 1927 in Boston) is Archbishop Emeritus of Hartford.

Life

The cardinal vicar and Pro - prefect of the Congregation of Rites, Cardinal Clemente Micara, consecrated him on 18 March 1956 to the priests of the Archdiocese of Boston.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 10 June 1968 Auxiliary Bishop of Boston and Titular Bishop of Egnatia. The Archbishop of Boston, Richard Cardinal Cushing, James, gave him on 12 September of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops in Boston Jeremiah Francis Minihan and Thomas Joseph Riley.

On October 30, 1970, he was appointed Bishop of Fall River, and introduced into the office on 16 December of the same year. On December 10, 1991, he was appointed Archbishop of Hartford and introduced into the office on January 28 of next year.

On 20 October 2003, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation due to age.
