Daniel Ducarme

Daniel Ducarme ( born March 8, 1954 in Liege, † 28 August 2010) was a Belgian politician of the party Mouvement Réformateur ( MR). Ducarme was longtime parliamentarian (sometimes in the European Parliament and in the Chamber of Deputies ) and among other things, 2003-2004 Prime Minister of the Brussels Capital Region. He has served as party president in 2002, the founder of the MR, the Federation succeeded the PRL -FDF - MCC. However Ducarme was forced to resign in 2004 by most offices after it was revealed that he had paid for years no taxes. At the local level Ducarme was first mayor of Thuin and later a municipal councilor in Schaerbeek / Schaerbeek. In 2002 he received the honorary title of Minister of State.

Life

The Clavier derived from Huy Daniel Ducarme obtained his degree as a social assistant at the Institut Supérieur d' Etudes Sociales de l'Etat (IESE ) in Brussels. While still a student, he was elected in 1974 to the National Chairman of the Liberal Students and was the organizer of the First Congress of the European liberal students. In 1976 he entered into active politics as an advisor to the MEPs and former chairman of the Francophone Liberals ( PLPW ), André Damseaux, a. In 1979, Daniel Ducarme presented for the first time for the European Parliament elections, but remained only replacement candidate. From 1992 to 1995 Ducarme held the Vice Presidency of the Chamber of Deputies. From 1995 he was group leader of the opposition meeting in the PRL -FDF in the Parliament of the French Community, before he again returned to the European Parliament in 1999, where he was elected quaestor.

Party Internally Ducarme presented in 1989 for the presidency for election, losing to the Jean Gol ( PRL) and the party leadership favored Antoine Duquesne (PRL ). But since Ducarme could count on a relatively broad support base of the party, he was appointed Vice - President of the PRL and held that office for three years. About ten years later, he was finally elected in 1999, first after the resignation of Louis Michel to the party president ad interim, and as President of the PRL and PRL -FDF - MCC Federation. As party president, he wanted to unite the three components of the Federation under one name. With his first unfortunate proposal, a Parti Démocratique (PD ) to found the American model, he failed. On 24 March 2002, he, however, this venture came with the name Mouvement Réformateur (MR ) and the party manifesto from his pen was approved on 1 September 2002 at Rochefort by the party.

In 2003 Ducarme stepped back from the party chairmanship surprisingly the MR to become Prime Minister of the Brussels Capital Region and Minister of Culture of the French Community. In fact, he had moved to Brussels in 2000 and since then met in the council of Schaerbeek / Schaerbeek. Ducarme saw himself compelled, however, on 12 February 2004 to withdraw from most of his political offices after it was announced that he had filed a tax return for years and it therefore a method by the Revenue threatened the reclaimed 265,000 euros. After this affair, he has attracted Daniel Ducarme, who despite everything still managed to defend his seat in the Chamber of Deputies at the federal elections in 2007. Daniel Ducarme died on 28 August 2010 after a longtime battle with cancer at the age of 56 years and was survived by his wife and four children, of whom Denis Ducarme and Lucas Ducarme are politically active (both MR).

Honors

Daniel Ducarme was Grand Officer of the Order of Leopold and Honorary Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies as well as honorary mayor of Thuin. On 28 January 2002 he was awarded the honorary title " Minister of State ".
