Daniel Forfang

Daniel Forfang ( born December 28, 1979 in Tromsø) is a former Norwegian ski jumper and current assistant coach at the base Trondheim (Team Trønderhopp ).

Career

With twelve years Forfang began in his hometown of ski jumping before he retired at the age of 16 years due to better training conditions to Trondheim. In the 1997/1998 season Forfang debuted at the Continental. However, it took until 21 December 2001 until he was employed in the Italian Predazzo for the first time at a World Cup competition, where he achieved a 39th place. His first World Cup points took the Norwegians in January 2002 with a 14th place at the competition in Hakuba Japan.

In the season 2002/2003 Forfang was mainly used in the Continental Cup, which he finished with a fifth place overall. He was able to celebrate two wins in a row in Zakopane this season. The following season Forfang is used again in the Continental Cup, which he finished in 18th place. The remarkable thing is that he had suffered in the summer in volleyball ligaments in the ankle, which he did, however, treat only after end of the season. However, he returned already for the summer Grand Prix return to the competition scene, although he had previously expressed resignation thoughts. In the competitions he was able to celebrate a victory with the team in Zakopane as well as two individual victories in Innsbruck and Hakuba.

From these results, he returned in the winter of 2004 /05 back to the World Cup team and ersprang with rank 28 its best placement in the World Cup. This season, he could win his only victory with the team, this was on 5 March 2005 in Lahti the case. His personal best in ski flying dates from this season, he placed them in qualifying for the competition in Planica Slovenia on 18 March 2005 when he flew 214 meters. In the season 2005/2006 Forfang was used only partially in the World Cup.

On August 28, 2006, Daniel Forfang ended because of problems with the Norwegian Ski Association and the slenderness printing his career as an active athlete. Interestingly, it was claimed on the part of the coach, Forfangs competition weight lies at 70 kg, but he himself stated in an interview after finishing his career to have had a competition weight of 61.7 kilograms.

Currently, Daniel Forfang assistant coach with the team Trønderhopp in Trondheim, where he is involved the first research group in the care of the elite group and, together with his former colleague Morten Solem Springer.

Private

Forfang has two brothers and one sister of which of the fifteen years younger Johann Andre Forfang is also a ski jumper.
