Hakuba (Nagano)

Hakuba (Japanese白马 村, -mura, literally, " white horse " ) is a village in the Japanese prefecture of Nagano Hakuba in the district.

Very touristy oriented and dependent on the ski lifts, Hakuba is a zersiedeltes village between the ski areas Happoone, Gooryu 47 and Iwatake.

Hakuba is the birthplace of Japanese skiing. In winter the snow lies several meters high, the winter sports season lasts until well into April. Hakuba was known as the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics were held. The village then organized among other ski jumping at the Hakuba ski jumps and the competitions in Alpine disciplines.

Through the valley of Hakuba performs a part of the old road, was transported to the earlier salt from the northern sea inland.

Hakuba is a partner church of Lech in Vorarlberg as well Oberwiesenthal.
