Daniele Bennati

Daniele Bennati (born 24 September 1980 in Arezzo ) is an Italian racing cyclist.

Career

Bennati started his professional career in 2002 with Acqua & Sapone - Cantina Tollo. He won his first race in 2002 ( stage Tour of Bank Austria ) and in the same year, a stage of the Regio Tour. He then moved to Domina Vacanze Elitron and won one each stage of the Mediterranean Tour and the Tour of Poland. After a weak year at Phonak he went to Lampre- Caffita and immediately won the Giro di Toscana. After that, he took first place in three stages of the Tour of Germany and won the points classification.

In the Tour of Poland, he celebrated two stage wins. In 2006, he was able to retract wins in UCI ProTour race again, so for example in the Tour of Catalonia. In his sixth year as a pro Bennati already runs in the fifth team.

In the 2007 Tour de France he won at the last stage in Paris in a mass sprint against Thor Hushovd and Erik Zabel.

For the 2008 season, he signed a contract with Liquigas. At the Giro d' Italia 2008, he was the most successful sprinters with three stage wins and winning the points classification. The 2008 Tour de France he missed, however, due to Achilles tendonitis.

In 2005, Bennati tested positive and the race Gent- Wevelgem cautioned to betamethasone.
