Darío Cvitanich (2008)
Darío Cvitanich ( born May 16, 1984 in Baradero, Buenos Aires, Argentina Province, Croatian spelling of the family name: Cvitanić ) is an Argentine footballer who stands at OGC Nice under contract.
Career
Association
Cvitanich played since 2003 for Banfield. Making its debut on October 20, 2003, he was 18 years old. In 92 games he scored 37 goals, including a hat- trick against Newell's Old Boys. Cvitanich played in the 2007 Copa Libertadores for Banfield and proved already during his early career phase as a reliable team player for his former club.
From the 2008/ 09 season played for Ajax Amsterdam Cvitanich. On 30 August 2008, the striker made his debut in the Eredivisie. On his first league goal Cvitanich had to wait until 12 December 2008. He was awarded from 1 January 2010 until 31 December 2010 to the Mexican club CF Pachuca. In the 2011/12 season he was loaned to CA Boca Juniors.
In early August 2012, he joined the French first division club OGC Nice.
National
As the ancestor who was born in Argentina Darío Cvitanich originate from Croatia, he took the Croatian citizenship, and expressed his desire to play for the Croatian national team, because " such an opportunity only comes once, and you must accept this simple." Darío Cvitanich received his Croatian passport in August 2008. In January 2009 it was announced that he has according to FIFA regulations do not use authorization for the Croatian national team.
